nhl- Ruining the Game

from South Coast Today, Leave it to the National Hockey League for finally listening to the fans when they say, "We want old time hockey," and answering, "OK, everybody makes the playoffs."
USA Today recently obtained a league memo asking general managers to respond to 13 potential changes, one of which would be the addition of four teams to the Stanley Cup playoffs.
That's four teams -- but only two possible reasons.
It could be that the NHL is reaching out to all the non-fans who for the past 20 years have been saying they don't watch hockey because "everybody makes the playoffs." Of course they're not. These fans, who have been wrong for 15 years -- only 16 of 30 teams make the playoffs as opposed to 16 of 21 in 1990 -- will still have as much use for hockey in December as they did during the lockout.
More likely, the league is reaching out to all non-fans who, for the past 15 months, have been ignoring hockey because their team wasn't in the playoffs the last time there were playoffs.
