from the Toronto Globe and Mail, For everyone waiting for the other shoe to drop in National Hockey League collective bargaining talks, here's a bit of news: The wait — for a full-fledged ratified agreement, followed by a buoyant press conference hailing the NHL's new era — could take another week or more to unfold.
It isn't just because the crossing of the 'T's and the dotting of the 'I's is proving more elusive than originally anticipated. The two sides worked feverishly through the weekend, adjourning Sunday's talks at 1:30 a.m. Monday morning and then starting afresh only six hours later.
The exhausting hours put in by the negotiating teams on both sides was designed to get the finished document in the hands of owners and players by this Wednesday or Thursday at the latest, so that the all-important ratification process can finally on...
